Some reasons you should go on a shopping date with a friend and some tips…

It is a bonding experience…

Remember going to the mall with friends in highschool just to hang out? Well it still works when you get older! You get to know each other a little more, have longer conversations than just sitting for coffee (your bottom starts to hurt after a while and it is time to go!!). You point out things you think are cute and they point out stuff too that you would’ve TOTALLY missed!

I love my husband but….

Sometimes you need a break from the kids, from your man, from only shopping for groceries. And let’s face it I don’t know if you guy is like mine but this is not fun for either of us…

I do have to hand it to him he was a good sport this day! But a lot of the time he gets tired fairly quickly and overwelmed… understandably as he has a manual labor job… so it’s ok babe you can sit down with the cute baby!! 😉 So although he is my best friend he is NOT my favorite shopping buddy because I often feel rushed. We did have fun that night though! We went to the grand opening of the ThredUP  store here in Austin!

Price bummer…

So I don’t know if you have noticed this but most men don’t really care to look at things for the sake of looking at beautiful things. They want to “hunt” go in get what they want and get out ASAP. I think most of us know this, but they also look at the price and say things like “DANG THAT COSTS A LOT” even if it is a $20 purse… um no sir it isn’t, please sit down with the baby and just look handsome! HA HA HA!!! Where your girlfriend would say “OH MY GOSH THAT IS AN AMAZING DEAL”  even if you don’t get it that makes the experience a lot more fun!

Plans change…

When you have mom friends you HAVE to keep in mind that with kids plans can change in the blink of an eye. The baby/kid might get sick, they may not have had their nap and are throwing the HUGEST TANTRUM EVER…etc. So DON’T get offended if your friend changes the plan or cancels all together. It doesn’t mean she doesn’t like you, PROMISE! Try again! and AGAIN, AND AGAIN!

In our case it wasn’t the kids but the weather! Hurricane Harvey was threatening to hit our area and although it didn’t hit us directly there was a TON of rain! So we changed our plans from an fun elaborate time in downtown Austin to a trip to Target. It wasn’t what we planned, I had even got my hair and makeup done by a friend so we could take cute selfies in the goregous mirrors at this other store I heard about (I plan to visit soon and will tell you guys about it!) BUT we decided to “play it safe” and go on a Target trip. We ended up having a lot of fun and chatting the whole time THUS no pictures other than that first one… even though I did my hair and makeup… I should’ve still went and tried on cute clothes… what was I thinking! Oh well it was so awesome hanging out with Rachel and bonding with her more!!

Honest adult female opinions…

So although I went to ThredUp with my family and I love my daughters, an 11and 4 year old’s fashion sense isn’t fully developed ;). It would’ve been nice to have Rachel come but she was busy that day. A good friend will tell you if your butt does look big in those jeans, or they will give you confidence to rock some cute leggings!

You need adult conversation other than your husband…

Sometimes being a mom can be overwelming, even as a stay at home mom… maybe even worse because you CAN’T ESCAPE THEM!! 24/7!! Mine even try to come in the bathroom when I am doing a #2!!?? Again I love my children but for mental health reasons it is good to have a friend to talk to about things you are going through, maybe they are a couple steps ahead of you and they can encourage you, or the other way around.

Today’s activity: Grab a friend and go shopping! And if you are in the Austin area go check out Thred Up‘s new store!! It is flipping rad!!
